Does Cortex require the Enterprise Version of Windows 2003 Server?

All cortex components are capable of running on Windows 2003 standard edition, the Enterprise version may be used to provide clustering for SQL Server 2005.

Can Cortex run on virtual servers?

Yes, Cortex has been successfully tested on Microsoft Virtual Server, VMWare ESX Server, VMWare Server, VMWare Workstation, XenSource Server, XenSource Enterprise.

What configuration of Exchange deployment is required for Cortex

Cortex supports any standard Exchange server configuration, including stand-alone enterprise installations and Microsoft Hosted Messaging and Collaboration solution deployments.

How “loosely” are components of Cortex coupled, do Web and SQL server have to be members of the Active Directory domain?

Cortex components interface with each other using web-services and MSMQ. There is no mandatory requirement for either Web or SQL server to be a member of a domain.

We have our own billing system managing non-Microsoft based hosting. Can provisioning be automated from our billing system?

The Cortex XML based API can be used to both read, write and initiate provisioning through Cortex for billing and automation purposes. More information on the Cortex XML based API for provisioning can be found here.

Does the Cortex provisioning system support more than one level of resellers

Cortex allows unlimited reseller levels, i.e. a reseller can have sub-resellers. Resellers can be delegated permission to provision selected services. The Cortex delegated administration architecture allows each reseller to be configured independently of each other allowin an unprecedented level of configurability
