Migrating Existing Data onto Cortex

Introduction

The Cortex platform's flexiblity allows existing Active Directory customer and user data to be migrated onto Cortex using a standard data migration process, allowing you to manage all of your customers on one platform.

EMS-Cortex's skilled consultants will work with you to ensure that no disruption is made on your existing customer database and the services that you offer. Attention to detail is paramount through the data migration, and quality assurance processes are completed throughout to ensure that the quality and usability requirements are met.

Cortex Data Migration Process: A high level overview

Evaluation

A copy of the existing customer population is exported into a Cortex test environment where detailed analysis is completed on the user and security information that is stored within the directory. The data requirements are specified and documented, including any customised changes that are needed to the standard Cortex data migration tools.

Data Migration Process

The standard Cortex data migration tools are updated to meet the specific requirements and a test environment that replicates the service provider's Cortex platform is built. A sub set of the customer data is imported onto the test environment using the customised data migration tools and tested internally by EMS-Cortex.

Outputs from this stage of the process include; a documented customer level migration process and data migration tools. These outputs are used to complete the live customer migration.

Acceptance Testing

Prior to the Live Customer Migration, a sub-set of customer data is migrated onto a defined Cortex environment and handed to the service provider to perform data validation tests. EMS-Cortex will provide, on-site (optional), specialist support throughout this phase ensuring the customer and user data has been moved accurately into the system and that all high risk scenarios are tested.

This stage results in the service provider signing-off the migration process and data migration tools.

Live Customer Migration

Prior to any real customers being migrated across, a test customer will be migrated into the production environment and rigorously tested to ensure that the users and their services have not been impacted. When the service provider is happy to proceed, the live customer migration can commence, this may be either a one-off or phased approach depending on the population size of the existing data.

The live migration can be performed by either the service provider or EMS-Cortex. EMS-Cortex will continue to provide specialist support throughout this stage.
