Overview
Cortex's overriding principle is to simplify the process of hosting services to
customers. It achieves this by "Delegating Administration" to the end-customer;
with the aim of reducing the support burden on the service provider and empowering
the customer with the ability to make user/service changes as needed.
Cortex is a single web interface that is available to all users that have been provisioned
to the system. The available Cortex tasks that a user can perform are based on the
administrative roles the user holds and the services that the user has been granted.
Cortex supports an n-tier reseller model concept where the reseller can create customers
and sub-resellers as well as being a consumer of services.
Service Provider
May also be referred as Top Reseller.
The service provider administrator is granted full Cortex administration functionality
which includes the:
- Configuration of services that it hosts
e.g.) defining the Exchange databases that are to be used for a particular service
access level - Creation of resellers and the assignment of services that a reseller can sell
- Creation of end-customers and the assignment of services that a customer can use
The Service Provider Administrator is able to define what service packages / service
access levels are available for resellers and customers. Further empowerment can
be assigned to the reseller and customer by delegating the customisation of specific
service settings.
Resource management is available to all hosting services and the Service Provider
Administrator can define the maximum resource availability limits. Resellers and
customers can be set up with individual resource limits, with Cortex completing
real time checks to ensure the top level maximum limits have not been fully utilised.
With full access to Cortex functionality, the Service Provider Administrator can
view all customers and users that are on the system, including its sub-resellers'customers.
Reseller
A reseller can create customers and sub-resellers as well as being a consumer of
services.
The Reseller Administrator can view and amend information on all of its sub-customers
and sub-resellers'customers on the Cortex web based interface.
Reseller system generated reports display the current status of the reseller's sub-customers.
Customer
A customer can be created by either a reseller or the service provider.
The Customer Administrator will use the Cortex web based interface to manage their
own users and service related administration tasks. The Customer Administrator will
have access to view all of its customers' users.
An additional Administrator level is available at customer level, which is restricted
to password resets only.
Users
Users can manage their passwords on the Cortex web based interface. Additional functions
may be available online depending on the services that a user has been provisioned
with.
